By Carol J. Dunlop

Last Updated August 24, 2020

ScanPower is the single most underrated tool for Amazon sellers. It's overshadowed by InventoryLab but for sellers who have been paying attention, it quietly got better while Inventory Lab got worse.

So, if you're NOT using Scanpower, you owe it to yourself to read through this article.

ScanPower Review

Is It Recommended? Yes.

Who Should Use It? Amazon sellers who want an all in one solution for product scouting (retail arbitrage) and inventory management.

Pricing: 5 Tiers varying from $11/month to $199/month

TL;DR Summary

ScanPower is the most powerful, all in one solution for sourcing, shipping and managing inventory. Their only major shortcoming compared to their biggest competitor, InventoryLab, is that they're not as good at managing financials and reports for taxes. Considering all of their features and comparing them to all competitors, ScanPower is our top choice.

"Scanpower is a tool specially made to address the concerns of Amazon FBA sellers. From sourcing products to shipping items, this tool promises to assist you every step of the way. Using this tool, you won't have to spend countless hours looking for your next big product or not worry about managing your inventory." -ScanPower.com

How ScanPower Works

ScanPower has features that shave countless hours off your search for profitable products you can sell. Here’s a breakdown of the top 7.

Scanpower app

Mobile – The free app is available for Android and iPhone users. It allows you to search every item in Amazon’s catalog by ASIN, UPC, ISBN, or keyword.

In addition to showing the listing, the app also shows you the lowest 5 FBA offers and most important, whether or not Amazon is the seller

Released in late 2019, you can now see which brands are known to file IP complaints against sellers

You can scan several hundred items in a 2-3 hour session, see the profit probability, and then decide which items to buy.

scanpower app review

When I looked at the reviews for the mobile app on Amazon.com, it was almost even for positive and negative reviews. The people who loved the app and couldn’t live without it matched pretty evenly with those who thought it was totally scammy.

List – This feature allows you to scan an item on the fly and then create a new Amazon listing. Afterwards, you can choose the condition and then set the price.

Once you return to your office, your listings are ready for you to add notes and print labels.

scanpower webscout

Web Scout – Use WebScout to find deals online. Once you have an item in mind, cut and past the UPC code or the product name to get the same in depth information that’s available on the mobile app.

scanpower boxt

Boxt – Pack your box, keep track of the contents, and integrate it with your shipments using this feature. Boxt let’s you keep track of what’s inside of each box, with a 2D barcode that you can easily print out.

Evaluate – This is a powerful service, if you source from wholesalers and online sites. You can take a spreadsheet of UPC codes, upload it, and let Evaluate match items to your “buy criteria.”

Small lists of 50 UPC codes or less are free. List cost example for larger lists: 15,000-50,000 = $25

Once you decide which items to buy, create your listings in ScanPower List.

scanpower report

Report – Stay on top of your FBA business with Report. Amazon doesn’t keep track of how much you pay for items, where you purchased them, or when they expire, but Report does. Plus, you can track all sorts of data, like taxes, fees, and shipping costs.

ScanPower Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Amazing inventory management and reporting
  • More data than every other scouting app
  • IP Alert notifications

Cons

  • Not the best solution for tax related reporting. This is the one function that InventoryLab has objectively beaten Scanpower.
  • Speeds are reported to be slower on Android phones
  • Currently doesn't integrate with Aura or other Amazon repricers (coming in 2020)
  • No back button on search pages
