The number of new AI tools released daily is fascinating.
Most of them, however, are simply trojan horses filled with things ChatGPT could easily do on its own if you asked it.
The formula for an AI software is simple.
- Take a function of ChatGPT (you can even use the Open AI API).
- Narrow down the functionality and the target audience
- Give it a cool name.
- Buy the default AI website theme (you know what I’m talking about).
Boom. Done.
I’ll make one right now.
Zilgo AI.
It’s an “AI tool” that helps you write listings on Zillow.
I even made an official Zilgo website design.
Jokes aside, there is absolutely a place for specialized AI tools beyond the basic LLMs like ChatGPT.
Whether it’s for convenience or because there are things that aren’t possible inside ChatGPT — at least not yet.
I got to thinking… “I wonder how many AI tools do things that could be done just as well inside of ChatGPT?”
That list got too long, so I made the opposite.
A list of AI software that do things that ChatGPT cannot do or cannot do well enough yet.
This article is that list.
These are 20 skills and the recommended corresponding AI tools that do things ChatGPT can’t — or can only do if you bolt on a specific GPT or plugin. If there’s a free GPT that can pull it off, I’ll mention it too.
🔊 1. Voice Cloning & Ultra-Realistic Speech
Tool: ElevenLabs
There are 100s of AI voice generators and enhancers, but 11Labs is the gold standard. Generate hyper-realistic voiceovers with emotion, accents, and even your cloned voice.
Possible with a GPT? ✅
GPTs using ElevenLabs API (e.g. “Voice Cloner GPT”) exist, but usually limited in free versions.
📊 2. Auto-Generate Presentations from Ideas or Data
Tools: Slides.AI
Build designed slides instantly — not just outlines.
Possible with a GPT? ✅
GPTs like “Deck Designer” can export slides, but visuals often need tweaking manually.
🎥 3. Auto-Edit Video Clips from Long-Form Content
Tool: Opus Clip
Takes your long-form video and spits out TikTok-ready shorts, with highlights, captions, and framing. This feature of “repurposing long-form content into short form” is replicated by about 100 different AI programs, but this is the best of the bunch.
Possible with a GPT? Not yet.
😎 4. Clone Appearance and Face Swap
Tool: Akool Face Swap/Pikzels
Akool lets you put your face in movie scenes or viral clips with shocking realism.
Pikzels is my go to for creating YouTube thumbnails with my face on them (without taking pictures).
🚫 Not possible via GPT.
💰 5. Investment & Portfolio Optimization
Tools: Composer
Build automated portfolios, run backtests, and manage risk based on real data.
✅ Also possible via GPT: Some GPTs can simulate strategy building, but no real-time integration or trading execution.
📬 6. Smart AI Email Inbox Management
Tools: Saner.AI
Saner AI can read, triage, and answer your emails — way beyond ChatGPT’s drafting ability.
✅ Also possible via GPT: GPTs can help reply, but can’t access your inbox or triage automatically.
📈 7. Spreadsheet AI with Live Data Integration
Tools: NumerousAI
These tools connect to live data, auto-build dashboards, and make spreadsheets dynamic.
✅ Also possible via GPT: You can ask GPT for formulas, or Gemini directly in Google Sheets.
🧩 8. Deep Workflows
Tools: n8n
✅ Also possible via GPT: ChatGPT now does some automations, but not at the extent that is possible with N8
🤝 9. Outreach
Tool: Just Reach Out
ChatGPT can’t do the nitty gritty work of outreach just yet.
Possible with a GPT? Not yet.
💬 10. Connecting Vast Amounts of Media
Tool: Poppy AI
You can upload some information into ChatGPT, but if you really want to get more out of vast amounts of inputs (think a collection of 40 TikTok videos, a 400 page ebook, your own audio notes and more) you’ll need a tool like Poppy AI.
Possible with a GPT? Not at this scale.
Final Thoughts
ChatGPT is a Swiss Army Knife, but not a full toolbox. If you’re doing serious work in media, legal, marketing, or operations — you’ll often need something more specialized.
- ✅ Many of these tools integrate with GPTs
- ⚠️ Some GPTs are just wrappers for these tools
- 💡 Use ChatGPT to brainstorm, but deploy other tools to execute.
- 🔍 Keep your eye on ChatGPT updates as many of these things will most likely be included functionalities soon
What do you think? Are you using any of these tools? Did I miss any?
