Why I Started Using Mobile Proxies for My Amazon FBA Research (And You Probably Should Too)

Three months ago I had no clue what a mobile proxy was. Running my Amazon FBA business the same way for 2 years, manually checking competitor prices and spotting arbitrage opportunities. Then Amazon blocked me.

Again.

Their anti-bot system flagged my IP address because I'd been refreshing product pages too much during one research session, locking me out for 14 hours. I was tracking pricing drops on 237 specific ASINs and missing 14 hours meant losing a deal that would've made me $340 in profit.

What Actually Happens When You Get Blocked

Amazon tracks behavior patterns constantly. When you're hitting their servers with requests that seem automated or unusually frequent, their system assumes you're running bots.

Mobile proxies run on real mobile carrier IPs, the exact same type your phone uses on 4G or 5G data. After making the switch, I haven't been blocked once in 3 months.

My success rate now sits around 98.7% according to my tracking spreadsheet. Back in December with my cheap VPN service I was only hitting 61% success rate, which was brutally frustrating.

Speed improved dramatically too. I can run through my entire product watchlist in 47 minutes instead of dealing with 2+ hours of blocks and captcha screens.

How I Actually Use This in My Daily Workflow

Every morning around 6:15am I run price checks across all my target products, rotating IPs every 8-12 requests. You can set this rotation up to happen automatically. Amazon's system sees different mobile users checking different products instead of one person aggressively hammering their database.

When doing competitor analysis I'll lock an IP for extended sessions, maybe 90 minutes. Lets me browse through a seller's entire catalog without setting off flags because I look like an actual customer doing normal research.

I've also been using this for testing how my own listings display in different geographic regions. My products show up completely differently when searched from California compared to Texas.

The cost works out to about $0.83 per day based on my usage patterns. Completely worth it when one missed arbitrage opportunity costs way more.

I'm not claiming this fixes every challenge with running an online business. But it absolutely solved a specific expensive problem I kept running into.
